Our Lady of Manaoag

I first heard about Our Lady of Manaoag when I was in highschool. I was browsing a travel magazine when I came across a page containing her picture and a prayer. I was about to join a school competition that time, so I cut the aforementioned portion of the magazine. Luckily or miraculously, I won. From then on, I recite the prayer everytime I need a miracle no matter how minute or gigantic it may be. I remember one time when I was stuck in traffic and I had to be early for an exam. I prayed hard and weird things happened, I arrived late yet the exam commenced right after I arrived. Well, this prayer really works for me though I must say that I don't just recite it, I profess it with all the sincerity that must go with a prayer. After some time I realized that I should pray to her not only to express my intentions, but also to thank her. I've been wanting to pay her a visit but I didn't get the chance to go to Pangasinan. Another strike of luck, last last week my uncle called and said that her image was brought to the Archbishop's palace in Mandaluyong. We immediately went there and prayed. I just want to share this prayer and I hope it touches your life too (don't forget to say your thanks :) ). There may be times when we feel like all of our prayers are left unanswered, but sooner or later we tend to realize that we get what's best for us at the very right time. So just have faith and do the right things. Ika nga nila 'Nasa Diyos ang awa nasa tao ang gawa.'




PRAYER TO OUR LADY OF MANAOAG

Virgin Mother of God, Queen of the most Holy Rosary, Thou who hast chosen to raise thy throne of mercy in Manaoag, to be the beloved protectress and patron of the Province of Pangasinan, and therefrom to bestow thy graces on us thy children, banished in this alley of tears, look down with Thine eyes of mercy upon me, who am beset with so many dangers of body and soul. Despise not my petition O dearest Mother, but intercede for me before thy divine Son now and at the hour of my death. Amen.

The Tenth Planet

Yesterday an officemate e-mailed me about the discovery of a 'tenth planet.' The planet, which was given a temporary name of "2003UB313," was said to be larger than Pluto. NASA-Funded scientists Mike Brown (Caltech), Chad Trujillo (Gemini Observatory), and David Rabinowitz (Yale University) discovered the aformentioned planet using the Samuel Oschin telescope. It will be visible with a telescope over the next six months.


Bituing Walang Ningning?

Can you recall Irene Mora's story? I believe it was published in several newspapers and if my memory serves me right, I think I saw her interview in a local TV show. Irene Mora is a Filipino-American pilot who was tagged as the 'first Filipina to conquer space.' Many Filipinos took pride in her endeavor most especially when she said that she gave up her American citizenship in order to become a Filipino. Her story didn't end there, the fuss became bigger when denouncing articles surfaced, saying that her story is a hoax. It was said that after conducting an investigation, most of the stuff written about her weren't true.

The article about her being the "world's best skydiver" was proven to be veracious, though. Dr. Frank Osanka, president of Friendship Airborne organization validated the story recounting that Mora won a death-defying event over the best skydivers from around the globe.

Well I guess misleading information might have been supplied by either the writer or the interviewee herself. Nevertheless, Mora's accomplishment in her field is something that Filipinos, most especially women, can be proud of.
