Love, Peace, Respect, Joy, Hope and Faith
10 pm - we were on our way home when the cab driver suddenly pulled over in the middle of the road and rolled the window down to witness something.
I was shocked to see almost half of a man's body situated under a revo, his bicycle lying beside him. Whenever I witness this type of accident I always take pity on the person who is run into. Not this time. The cab driver recounts that he saw the man drive his way towards the revo, he seemed drunk. He said that he also saw the revo slow down when the latter's driver eyed the man on his bike. What really struck me was the reaction of the man who's driving the revo. When the thing happened, he immediately got off the car, approached the injured, and in a panicky voice said, " Ano po nangyyayari sa inyo?!!!" Considering the situation and the fact that he looks way older than the injured, I was expecting him to say "@#%& anong problema mo?!", or "#$%^# nagpapakamatay ka ba?" Instead of anger, I saw pity and worry on the man's eyes. He was trembling to carry he guy as he asked for help.
This made me ponder. When everything seems annoying and irritating, it will never be fair to think that the world is so cruel. I know that there are many who are like that 'cool guy' but his sole existence will make you think that there is always a reason to do our part in making our world a better place (sounds cliche huh?).
I recall another story worth recounting. I was a working student back then; I worked for Pizza Hut. I was assigned at the dining area that day and was quite busy. I served several tables and was shocked when I saw that one of the tables was already vacated. There were many incidents when customers take advantage of peak periods and 'run away' immediately after eating without paying their bill. I was about to cry thinking about the big bill left by the customers. My hope that they will come back almost faded away as an hour passed. Still I prayed. I don't know if it's a miracle... they came back! They didn't actually 'run away' they just forgot to pay the bill because they were chatting on their way out. I was teary-eyed when I talked to the customers. I almost gave one of them a hug. I said "thank you talaga ma'am as in sobra ang bait nyo po." Then she replied, "it's okay, mabait ka din kasi." My manager gave me a sincere smile.
So there you go, these stories are sparks of hope for those who feel like the whole world turned them down. You might grow weary and tired of doing what's right when you think that everyone around you are so focused on their wrongdoings. Try to see the good side of every man or every situation. Surely even the most cruel criminal has a soft spot :). Just always do what's right and everything will fall in its place.
Cheers to a New Year full of Love, Peace, Respect, Joy, Hope and Faith.
Galatians 6:9
Let us not be weary in doing good, for we will reap in due season, if we don't give up.
